In the spirit of Valentine's day tomorrow:
I stopped for fuel at a local Shell station this morning. On the counter there was a selfmade advertisement for 'fuel-cheques', proposed as the 'ideal gift'. I didn't take a picture because I was too busy paying and it seemed kind of intrusive. And I was trying to picture myself mouthing the line 'and here's 40 litres of Diesel for you Darling'...
Now I know fuel prices have gone up recently, but would anybody in their right mind buy fuel as a gift? You don't go buying prepaid cellphone minutes as a gift either, or do you? I can sort of see an opportunity for parents towards their children (trying to limit their phone habits and mileage?) but even then I need to squint so much it hurts my brain.
If anyone is aware of similar alternatives, I'd be very intrested to hear from you. The local Shell site doesn't mention it either, so I'm guessing it's a local thing. Maybe they have a special cocktail or something like that...
You just saved my day, fuel checks for the misses. ;)
